On June 10, 2005, the Portuguese Pointer Club of America completed the American Kennel Club's requirements for the inclusion of the Portuguese pointer in the AKC's Foundation Stock Service (FSS) Program. The following month on August 4, 2005, the PPCA was approved by the United Kennel Club as a Single Breed (Portuguese pointer) club. Later that year, on November 12, 2005, the PPCA held its first UKC event, a TAN for pointing breeds. These activities represent the beginning of our goal to do everything possible to protect and advance the best interests of the Portuguese pointer.
